The Beginnings
We are two sisters passionate about traveling. I know, everyone likes to travel, but we choose to also write about the places we visit, from Romania or from around the world, about cool places in Bucharest or about little known gems that we find along the way.
How did this passion start? Well, like most of yours did, I assume: summer vacations at the seaside with the parents. In ’93, at 7 and 5 years old we went for the first time abroad, to Vienna. All that I remember is that this is where we got our first Barbie dolls ald that we rode al the kids atractions from Prater amusement park.
In ’98 our parents decided that we need to improve our English and sent us with our cousin to a summer school near London for 2 weeks. Imagine 3 11 and 9 years old kids flying for the first time. All alone. Of course we were the youngest one there, most of the kids were 15-16 year olds. We loved the museums visits in London and all the other trips and activities we got to do in those 2 weeks.
In 2000 there was another summer school, this time around a francophone one in the middle of nowhere in Russia by train. It took us almost a week to get there. 3-4 until Moscow, where we walked around the city and visited some museums all day waiting for the next train. All night spent in said train, then another few hours by bus that took us in the middle of a forest. A bunch of Romanians, some French and about 100 Russians, trying perfect our French. 2 weeks spent in a summer camp with food so horrible and memorable that they even wrote poems and songs about it. But they were one of the coolest weeks of our lives, although on our way back home we survived on sausages and biscuits because nobody knew how to make a proper plan to buy food that will last all the way back home.
Then there were the trips in Romania, moving to Bucharest, discovering its secrets and all that it can offer. After a while, traveling sister Ramona decided that she wants to spend her birthdays in different cities and countries. And we started with Lyon, where we went to a tennis tournament, another passion of ours. Belgium followed, with visits to Bruxelless, Ghent, Bruges and Anvers. Then Rome and Barcelona. Traveling sister Simy wanted her own fun and spent her birthdays in Paris, Ostia and Rome.
How did we come up with this blog? We were coming back home from a road trip to Serbia and Croatia with the family and on the way back home, as traveling sister Simy was getting bored driving, she thought: „What if I made a traveling blog, as I like to travel, learn beforehand about what we’re about to visit and go to the most interesting places?’. When she shared this idea with traveling sister Ramona she found out that they were thinkink at the same thing. This sisterly telephaty…we always think the same. So we agreed to share our ideas and create this blog where we’ll try to write about all the places we’ve been and are going to visit in the future, to discover togheter new places and to enjoy our Bucharest, with its hidden streets and cool cafes. We hope that you’ll also travel with us through our memories and pictures!
