Bucharest Christmas Market
The holiday season has started for some time now so we decided to go to the Bucharest Christmas Market. This Christmas Market is fairly new, having its first edition in 2012. We try to go every year, either to see the Christmas lights, to try the traditional food from all around the country or to listen to carolers.

The Christmas Market opened on November 27th and it lasts a month. There’s a big 15 meters Christmas tree, a stage for shows and concerts, Santa Clause workshop and 60 wooden houses. Between 11 AM and 10 PM the vendors awaits us with gingerbread, lollipops, homemade jam, honey and vegetable spread, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, pottery, toys, traditional foods from different areas in the country, craftsmen that work right in front of you, Christmas decorations and presents for everybody. The most beautiful wood house from the fair will be rewarded this year and you can help by voting the most beautiful décor, your favorite products and the warmest service.

So far, the weather was on our side and we didn’t freeze to death when we’ve been there. We went both during the day and the evening. If you want to see the Christmas lights, go in the evening, but if you want to walk around and explore the little houses, you should go during the day because it’s not that crowded. Of course we couldn’t leave the fair without buying some things. We usually buy gingerbread, homemade chocolate and kurtos kolacs. And of course that the biggest line is on the kurtos kolacs, even if there are 2 stands on each side of the Market. We must admit, wherever we find kurtos kolacs, we have to buy it…it’s so good and tasty that standing in line doesn’t bother us anymore!
Like every year there’s a humanitarian campaign. This year “Give presents, be kinder! You can also be Santa Claus!” is the message for those who want to help children in need. This humanitarian campaign encourage people to donate books and toys, making an appeal at solidarity and social involvement.

We’ll leave you to some more pictures, maybe they’ll inspire you and you come visit.
