Road trip adventure
Yes, we know, we haven’t posted in a while but we have a good reason..we have been on a longer vacation. We didn’t have anything planned for this summer and we came to the conclusion that a road trip through Italy would be a great idea because we wanted to see more cities. It seems that when we can’t decide on a vacation destination, Italy saves us every time. There are many places worth visiting there and you can’t cover them all in just a stay and that’s why we decided to spend 3 weeks and drive from Northen Italy towards South.
Our journey took us to Zagreb first, then we continued to Venice and Burano, then we stayed at a friend’s place in Varese and from there we visited Lugano, Milan and Genoa. We packed our bags again and headed to Florence, with a short stop in San Gimignano and then to Siena. Then we arrived at our cousins house in Ostia, just near Rome, where we relaxed for a week at the beach and also visited Rome. After that we came back North, with a first stop in Cinque Terre and then back to Varese, with short visits to Brescia, Verona and Lake Como. We didn’t want our road back home to be too long and that’s why we made another stop in Ljubljana, Budapest and Timisoara.
We experienced a great adventure, although we hit the road at 43* and we felt that we were suffocating at times, but we surpassed the heat and didn’t let it ruin our journey. And because an adventure would’t be complete without some incidents, we had those as well, when on the road back home, between Hungary and Romania, on the recently opened highway we couldn’t find a gas station for more than 80 km and we ran out of gas…that’s until another driver with car problems who had stopped near our car came to our rescue and called a friend to bring us 2l of gas, enough for the ride to the first gas station in Arad.
After 3 weeks spent on the road we came back with so many pictures and in the next few weeks we will tell you about each place that we visited, but we won’t bore you with long post and we’ll just recommend things that you can do if you don’t have that much time to visit (one day or two in our case) and we’ll let the pictures tell you more..
