Top travel apps
We live in an era where smartphones are part of our lives, making organizing our trips easier, not having to rely on a physical map that we don’t always know how to read. Using smartphones and Internet we can actually make our vacations better. We made a list with all the travel apps that we use when we travel and we hope that it will be useful for you also.
- TripAdvisor. Million of users use TripAdvisor to search for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, reviewing them and leaving tips for others. We use it when we chose a new place to go out and the other people opinions and photos are very useful and make our decision easier.

- Foursquare. This app shows you what places are nearby and like TripAdvisor, it also has reviews and recommendations from other users. We use it when we are in a new city/area and what to grab something to eat or drink and we don’t know what’s around us.

- AirBnb is a fast growing app that allows you to rent an apartment for how long you plan your vacation. You have many options to choose from, from studios and apartments to villas and castles, renting them just for yourself or you can chose to share them with other travelers or even the owners. The list is long and varied. We’re big fans of AirBnb and we think that you should give it a try.

- Parkopedia. This app was very useful on our last trip because we went on a road trip by car. It shows you all the parking places near you with their hourly fees.

- Booking. You can book hotel and bed and breakfast rooms according to your budget. They also offer discounts if you book a room through them.

- Skyscanner. This app helps you find information about flights, giving you the best offers for your chosen destination.

- Google maps. I think that everyone with a smartphone has used at least once this app or similar ones. You can use it offline, you just have to set your destination and when you have Internet access and then you can turn off data transfer if you don’t what extra charges on your bill.

- Google translate. It’s very helpful when you want to learn basic words like “hello”, “thank you” or “goodbye”. It’s also useful when you don’t understand what says on some street signs or to decipher the dishes in a restaurant.

- Oanda Currency Converter. This app is useful in the countries that don’t use the same currency as your own and you want to keep an eye on how much you spent.

- We couldn’t forget about Instagram, with more than 300 million users worldwide, making it one of the most popular apps. We admit that we felt a little jealous looking at some of the travel photos but we used them as an inspiration for our vacations. It’s very useful when you want to go to some new places and have access to free tips from the users on what’s worth seeing. It’s even more useful to make your friend back home jealous.
